How Girls' Generation and Asia Redefined the Princess Pop Landscape

It's absolutely amazing to see the international impact of what the Gospel Girls and Disney chicks started here in the United States. Their talents and commitment helped catapult our love efforts to the other side of the globe in stunning fashion.

Enter Girls' Generation, the first group of this type that caught my attention years ago. Girls' Generation is a legendary South Korean girl group that defined the second generation of K-pop. Over their remarkable career, they achieved unprecedented global and domestic success, selling millions of albums, headlining multiple sold-out world tours, and earning hundreds of prestigious awards—cementing their historic legacy as the enduring "Nation's Girl Group."

What you have been watching up to this point on the blog from the Far East all started (as far as I can tell) with the group of lovely young women in our video tonight. In a sense, they started the mighty flow that eventually broke the dam. Since then, Asia has clearly become an immeasurable contributor to the Princess search. I'm so proud of all these young women.

The Gorgeous Ladies of Rescene Are Ready for a "Love Attack"

It's gonna take a lot of love to change the way things are. Thank God we have our talented friends from the great Asian lovefest, churning out one chart-topper and viral video sensation after another. Tonight, the gorgeous ladies of Rescene boldly declare that it's time for a "Love Attack."

Rescene achieved a rare viral breakthrough when this song skyrocketed to the top of South Korea's major music charts following a massive grassroots social media wave, climbing all the way to No. 1 on major Melon and YouTube music charts and turning into a major career-defining breakout hit for the group.

I do need you, angel. We'll be much stronger together. A sincere "thank you" to Rescene, and the K-Pop industry in South Korea, for your dedication and creative expression that builds upon this legacy of love.

Attack, warriors!

National TV Puts Twice's Princess Love On Full Display in Asia

We continue our look toward the Far East with my special lovers from the South Korean girl group Twice. Twice is a dynamic nine-member group that has become a dominant force in K-pop, known for their infectious pop hits, synchronized choreography, and immense global popularity. Here they are putting Princess love on full display with yet another nationally televised performance there.

I have to say that the young ladies from this region of the globe have displayed an unique ability to emphatically demonstrate how much our love has grown worldwide. Thank you, ladies, for your immense talent and for your incredible boldness. You forever have my love, respect, and affection. Keep up the great work.

We're currently spending a week here looking at the fabulous musical contributions from Asia as we prepare for my next overseas excursion, this time to Germany next month.

My gorgeous Asian lovers sing their incredible songs and shake their pretty bottoms in celebration of our unbreakable bond. Stay tuned as we visit both older gems and some of the newer contributions later this week.

A Torrent of Talent: South Korea's ILLIT Stuns Global Audiences With the Release of "It's Me"

I've featured the incredible Princess artistry that has been taking shape in Asia here for years, but I think it's safe to say the dam has finally broken. The mighty rushing stream has now become a torrent of love. When gorgeous Asian performers, time and time again, showcase their unique talents through song and dance, we must take some time to honor them and enjoy the stunning growth we've experienced in that part of the planet.

I had a great time living in Asia, once spending a year in Okinawa.

To the beautiful young women of the region who have seemingly embraced this concept and decided to help make this a global phenomenon, you have my sincerest thanks and adoration. To me, you are heroic. I look forward to your future work and the massive growth of your music around the world.

After One Unforgettable Evening In Corpus Christi, Princess Lacey and Flyleaf Gave Us "Again"

Someone told me years ago that a band of born-again rock musicians had covered a Nine Inch Nails song from Pretty Hate Machine. Obviously thinking that sounded like a complete disaster, I looked them up and gave the album a listen.

I found the exact opposite to be true.

I was excited by the care they gave to the classic song, and particularly by the amazing performance of the lead vocalist, now a rock star, author and most importantly, a fantastic mommy and wife. My dream.

I later traveled 200 miles to see this band and its incredible singer, who later became known as Princess Lacey, perform live in a venue under the bridge in Corpus Christi. This was shortly after the destruction caused by Hurricane Ike here in Houston.

The band's next record, Memento Mori, featured the song and video we watch tonight.

Here is Princess Lacey and Flyleaf with "Again."

I hear Lacey and the band is wandering through downtown Houston in the next couple weeks.

She's one of the earliest, coming from the era of the original "John is Waiting for His Princess" blog. I guess, in a sense, it's our 20th anniversary, my love...

Trent Reznor's Lovely Wife Wants To Sing Us A Song. And When Trent's Wife Sings Us A Song, You Listen

Who are the demons that make loud noises outside? Who are those people who feel they should follow me around, scrutinize where I live and send folks into where I hang out? I'm going to let you in on a little secret tonight: If that's you, you're being watched.

They're watching from ground level. They're watching from above the trees. They're watching your every move. And they still believe in me.

That means your ass is grass, dumb ass.

A friend told me years ago that Trent from Nine Inch Nails had released an EP with his lovely wife, Mariqueen, under the name How to Destroy Angels. We listened to that EP, start to finish, while drinking some rather stout orange juice that evening. I've been a fan ever since. What can I say? When Trent and his wife make music together, we listen. And you probably should too.

Sometimes you need to watch from above the trees.

More great believer rock to come. Thank you.

After Two Incredible U.S. Performances, We Experience VNV Nation's Laser Extravaganza On Prestigious German Stage

As we look forward to the Berlin excursion later this year, we continue to look back at the stunning German artistry that has steered me in that direction. The Live Entertainment Award (LEA) is a prestigious German honor that recognizes the outstanding achievements of professionals behind the scenes—such as concert promoters, artist managers, and tour organizers—who make live music and entertainment events possible.

I first saw this band at the Meridian in downtown Houston, and then a week or so later at The Glass House in Pomona, near Los Angeles. I wish I could see them in Germany. Here is VNV Nation of Hamburg.

Reflections on Princess Taylor: A Love Story Worth Celebrating

We could set our watches nowadays to former Princess artists who are marrying off left and right, leading John to believe that the Master must be preparing a two-fold recompense for his former shame. Unless my calculator is broken, that is going to be well worth it when it finally happens. Regardless, Princess Taylor's current love story is one to be honored and celebrated.

At some point, we may spend more time remembering the incredible contributions of Princess Taylor, but for now, we take a pause to remember one nationally televised moment in the midst of our long-standing love that still brings joy to my heart. Don't worry, Travis; I'm not hitting on your girl, but she is part of a wonderful heritage that even your incredible wedding at a basketball arena cannot separate her from.

This is, and always will be, Princess Taylor Swift. Here she is live at the Billboard Music Awards.

Berlin's Princess Maya Misses Me. She's Never Met Me Yet

As we continue the planning phase of my next international visit, I thank you for helping decide where John Tyler goes next. Electronic and industrial music in Europe has been a consistent contributor to our efforts. Maya Saban is a Berlin-born singer who gained notable recognition in the electronic music scene through her featured vocal performances on tracks by the German project Schiller. Ladies and gentlemen, here is my Princess, who misses me greatly, although she's never met me yet.

Much like myself, the Princess believes in dreams. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Stay in touch here on the blog, as my posts from Maya's hometown start in August.
